Frequently Asked Questions
In a channel, everyone sees the answer, so keep sensitive questions to a direct message.
Any donor lookups you run in Slack stay private. Even in a shared channel, a donor brief is visible only to you.
Audiences created by asking Edna in Slack are generated right away. They are not saved as a draft. Don’t worry, no new audience gets synced to your channels unless you set up a Pathway in Avid. You can always hit “Cancel” if you change your mind.
Yes. You can start your conversation in Slack, and finish it in Avid. Every answer links to the same conversation in your browser.
Avid isn’t priced per seat, so you can have your whole team using Avid + Slack: your development team, leadership, finance, board members, or anyone who is part of the conversation about your donors.
When Avid + Slack is connected, Slack matches your email to your Avid account. If it finds a match, you’re ready to use Avid + Slack instantly. If not, Edna asks them to sign in.
If you need to add more team members in Avid, your team’s Avid admin can add them under Settings → Team. It takes a minute and costs nothing extra.
The Avid + Slack integration is live. It’s real, not a demo. It uses your live data with the same security and permissions as the rest of Avid.
We’re starting with a small group of Avid users so we can respond fast. A few edges are still rough. Things will change. And your feedback matters.
The help article lists more details about what we’ve built so far, and the kind of feedback that can help make the Avid + Slack integration better for you.
If we don’t hear from you first, we’ll check in with you in about two weeks to get more personalized feedback.
We’d love for you to tell us what you think. Did something break? Was an answer confusing? Was there a question that Edna couldn’t handle?
Email us directly at [email protected] with any of your feedback so we can improve the experience for you and other Avid fundraising teams.
